"I cannot begin to say enough good things about Jaime. He is patient and informative, you can tell he's passionate about what he does. Not only that, he is incredibly good at it. I'd recommend his services to anyone. You and your dog are in excellent hands!!!"
"My rescue GSD was overbearing with guests and people avoided her. After training she walks off-leash, knows all her commands, and handles every distraction beautifully. This program changed our lives."
"Jaime has worked with my dog since she was a 6 month old terror train. Almost immediately we saw signs of improvement. He has such a natural way of interacting with her. I think the hardest part has been training me. He is fantastic! If you think your dog is untrainable or just want to ensure you get truly repeatable results and great value, trust your pup to Jaime."
"Jaime was instrumental in getting my dog to be service animal ready despite how strong of a personality she has. Thanks to his training and the skills he taught us, my dog and I have a great partnership now. He has a great grasp of what goes on in their heads and has so much love for every single dog. Would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for help with their dogs, especially the more difficult cases!"

The first months of your puppy's life set the tone for everything. We build the right foundation from day one — so you never have to undo bad habits later.
Most puppy problems aren't the puppy's fault — they're the result of missed windows and unclear rules. Our puppy program is designed to shape behavior during the most critical developmental period, giving your dog the structure, confidence, and skills they need to thrive for life.
We work with puppies under 5 months and establish communication, impulse control, and pack structure from the very start.
New puppy owners who want to do it right from the start. If you just brought home a puppy and you're feeling overwhelmed — or you're seeing early behaviors you don't want to become permanent — this is the program for you.
We start with a free consultation to discuss your puppy, your household, and your goals. From there we build a training plan and work through private lessons — teaching your dog and teaching you at the same time. You'll leave every session with homework and the skills to follow through.
Does your dog lunge, bark, or shut down on leash? Reactivity is one of the most common — and most fixable — problems we see. We specialize in it.
If you dread walks, cross the street to avoid other dogs, or feel like your dog is out of control the moment a trigger appears — you're dealing with reactivity. It's exhausting, embarrassing, and for some owners, it means their dog stops going out at all.
Reactivity isn't a personality flaw. It's a communication problem. And it's one we solve every day.
We use behavior modification that targets the root cause — not just the symptom. We teach your dog a different way to respond to triggers while building the obedience foundation that makes those responses stick. We also work with you so you can handle your dog confidently in any situation.
We don't manage reactivity. We fix it.
If other trainers have told you your dog can't be helped, or if you've tried group classes and they made things worse — call us. We work with dogs that other programs turn away. Our methodology and tools are designed specifically for dogs with serious behavioral challenges.
Private obedience training for dogs of all ages. Off-leash reliable, distraction-proof, and a dog you're proud to take anywhere.
Most dogs know a few commands at home. The real test is out in the world — at the park, on a busy street, with other dogs nearby. Our obedience program builds the kind of reliability that holds up everywhere, not just in your living room.
Whether your dog is 6 months or 6 years old, we can build reliable obedience. Older dogs absolutely can learn new skills — it just takes the right approach and clear communication. We've worked with every breed and every level of prior training (including none).
All obedience training is done in private one-on-one lessons — no group classes, no distractions, no wasted time. Every session is focused on your dog, your goals, and giving you the handling skills to maintain everything long-term.
Advanced training for working breeds, sport dog handlers, and owners who demand the highest level of drive, focus, and obedience.
Jaime handles a personal working dog every single day. That hands-on experience with high-drive, high-stakes dogs isn't something you learn in a classroom — it's earned through real work. That's what separates Compass K9 from general obedience trainers when it comes to working and sport dogs.
Working breed owners — Malinois, GSD, Dutch Shepherd, Doberman, Rottweiler, and similar — who need more than a basic obedience trainer can offer. Sport handlers preparing for trial. Anyone with a high-drive dog that general trainers have struggled with or written off.
Working dog programs begin with a free consultation where we assess your dog, discuss your goals, and design a program around your specific needs. Reach out and let's talk about what you're working toward.

Professional dog trainer, working dog handler, and founder of Compass K9 Academy in the Lehigh Valley, PA.
Dog training isn't a side interest for me — it's how I think, how I work, and how I live. Over the past three years I've trained dogs across the full spectrum: family pets that needed structure, reactive dogs no one else wanted to touch, service dog candidates preparing for public access, and high-drive working breeds built for serious tasks. From basic obedience to advanced off-leash reliability, behavior modification, and protection foundations — I've worked it all, hands-on, with real dogs and real handlers.
My approach is built on three things: clear communication, honest accountability, and structure that actually translates outside the training room. I don't believe in shortcuts, gimmicks, or telling owners what they want to hear. I tell them what their dog needs — and then I show them how to deliver it.
Compass K9 Academy focuses on what I'm best at and most passionate about: real-world obedience, neutrality and confidence in chaotic environments, behavior rehabilitation for the hard cases, and protection development for owners who want a capable, controlled dog at their side. My own working dog runs alongside everything I do — in demos, in content, and as a daily reminder of the standard.
Based in Allentown, PA, I serve the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas — in person, in your environment, and on your dog's timeline.
